ReMax Homes Unlimited to become Xtreme Realty

ROCK FALLS – ReMax Homes Unlimited is about to get Xtreme.

The realty office, which has nine agents, will not be a ReMax franchise after Dec. 18, co-owner Dave DeVries said Tuesday. The office at 1201 First Ave. will be called Xtreme Realty, effective Dec. 19.

DeVries said the change will allow him greater freedom in advertising and in recruiting more agents; he has three or four who he wants to hire.

Xtreme will host an open house in January, he said.

Abra Auto Body and Glass to open

STERLING – Abra Auto Body & Glass will open in January at 1818 Locust St.

Abra, part of a national chain, will have five full-time employees, said Jason Hachmeister, who owns Sterling Chevrolet and co-owns the Sterling Abra.

Sterling Chevrolet is detailing cars in the building, which recently housed Wyanet Meats. Half of the building will continue to be a detailing shop, while Abra will use the other half, Hachmeister said.

Abra will use environmentally friendly water-based paint and will work with all insurance companies. Call 815-625-2700 for more information.

Fashion Bug to close in January

STERLING – Fashion Bug, 4311 E. Lincolnway, will likely close in late January, Charming Shoppes Spokeswoman Gayle Coolick said Tuesday.

All Fashion Bug stores, including Sterling’s, will close in early 2013, Ascena Retail Group announced in June.

Ascena paid about $900 million for Charming Shoppes Inc., a retailer that specializes in women’s plus-size clothing and owns the Fashion Bug chain.

Coolick declined to comment on the future of the building, saying it is too early to know whether the store will be converted to a Lane Bryant or another store owned by Charming Shoppes.

Charming Shoppes operated 1,832 retail stores in 48 states under the names Lane Bryant, Cacique, Lane Bryant Outlet, Fashion Bug, Fashion Bug Plus and Catherine’s Plus Sizes. It now operates as a subsidiary of Ascena. The Dressbarn, Maurices and Justice brands are also run by Ascena.

Plus Size Boutique has grand opening

ROCK FALLS – Plus Size Boutique, a new consignment shop at 303 First Ave., will host an open house from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday.

Tea, coffee and hors d’oeuvres will be served, and there will be door prizes.
