Dalton C. Smith, 19, of Dixon; 9:51 p.m. Tuesday in the 1000 block of West Sixth Street; resisting, obstructing a peace officer, possession of cannabis, 2.5 to 10 grams, disobeying a stop sign, operating an uninsured motor vehicle; given notice to appear in court.

Sterling Police

Sarah R. Sorochan, 23, of Sterling; 8:17 p.m. Tuesday; Whiteside County warrant – failure to appear – driving with a suspended license; posted $300.

Roger E. Johnson, 65, of Rock Falls; 1:19 p.m. Tuesday; failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident; given notice to appear in court.

Richard Ward, 29, of Rock Falls; Monday for an incident that occurred Sept. 7; possession of cannabis, possession of cannabis with the intent to deliver; posted bond.

Wise saw collapse in support

Last week, Sterling Alderwoman Amy Viering attended her last meeting as a city official. She gave the usual praise one hears at such departures. But one compliment stuck out. At the end of her speech, she turned to City Administrator Scott Shumard and said, "You're awesome."
