Girls basketball roundup: Dixon traps Ghosts, picks up second win

Kacie Dillow scored 13 points and Brooke Bailey 11 to lead Dixon to a 41-30 nonconference win over the IVC Grey Ghosts in Chillicothe.

Kari Wolfe added seven points for Dixon (2-4), which trailed 5-4 after one quarter, went ahead 18-14 at the half and led 26-20 after three quarters.

Rock Island 67, Sterling 52: A 16-8 advantage in the third period helped the Rocks pull away from the Golden Warriors in a nonconference tilt in Rock Island.

Kaitlyn Bauer led the Golden Warriors (3-3) with 15 points, and Kiarra Harris chipped in nine points while grabbing five rebounds.

Shavonne Brewer scored a game-high 16 points for the Rocks (5-0), who led just 35-33 at the half.

Prophetstown 53, Erie 30: The Prophets ran out to a 15-4 advantage after one quarter and cruised past the Cardinals in a Three Rivers Conference clash between the rivals at Erie.

Corrie Reiley led Prophetstown (6-1, 3-0) with 13 points. Riley Walters added 12 and Cassie Reiley 11.

Kayla Waggoner paced Erie (5-1, 0-1) with 10 points.

North Boone 64, Oregon 54: Despite Emylyn Wright’s 28-point performance, the Hawks fell short at home in the nonconference clash with the Vikings.

Malli Ernest led North Boone with 17 points. Madeline Sanders added nine points and McKaylee Beeter eight for Oregon (3-2).

Faith Christian 43, Tri-State 15: Krista Beach and Stacia Hamill each scored 12 points to lead the Falcons to a win in Galena.

Faith Christian (3-1) led 13-0 after one period and cruised to the win.
