Earth Angels benefit offers music, food

MOUNT MORRIS – A fundraiser for the Earth Angel toy program for children in need will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the Mount Morris Moose Lodge, 101 Moose Drive.

Bill Cook Sr., a country, jazz and 1950s rock ’n’ roll musician, and some of his friends will perform. There will be a fish fry from 5 to 8 p.m.

Those attending are asked to bring a toy or monetary donation.

On pensions, Bivins and GOP far apart

Sen. Tim Bivins, R-Dixon, joined with many of his fellow Senate Republicans this week to reject a pension bill sponsored by Democratic Senate President John Cullerton of Chicago. The measure passed 40-16. Bivins had a different reason for his no vote.
