STERLING – David A. Hoefke, 62, of Sterling, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at Rockford Memorial Hospital.

He was born March 24, 1950, in La Crosse, Wis., the son of Donald and Verne (Grodevent) Hoefke. He married Caroline M. Kline on Oct. 14, 1977, in Sterling.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Dave (Kris) Hoefke Jr. of LaSalle, Darrell Hoefke of Sterling, Donald Hoefke of Canton and Dean (Kim) Hoefke of Lyndon; one daughter, Joann Hobbs of Mississippi; five sisters, Donna Payne, Judy Campbell and Alice Zieman, all of Wisconsin, Edith Snow of Minnesota and Mary Cacari of Illinois; two brothers, Donald Hoefke of Illinois and Ben Hoefke of Minnesota; 24 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m., followed by the funeral at 10 a.m., Friday at McDonald Funeral Home, 505 First Ave., Sterling, with Lt. Cindy Marquis of The Salvation Army officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.
