VFW prepares food baskets for those in need

OREGON – Oregon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8739 will deliver Christmas food baskets to needy families and individuals in the Oregon area.

Volunteers will make up the baskets Dec. 21 and 22. They will be delivered between 8 a.m. and noon Dec. 22.

Any family or person who is in need may call the VFW from 7:30 to 9 a.m. or 3:30 to 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays at 815-732-6851. Names, addresses and phone numbers are requested. The deadline to call for a basket is Friday.

Someone must be home to receive the basket. If not, arrangements must be made to pick up the basket that day.

Those who previously received a food basket must call to be placed on the list.

More volunteers are welcome. Call the VFW for details.
