URBANA – Registration is open for University of Illinois Extension Certified Livestock Manager training workshops.
State law requires producers with more than 300 animal units in their operation be certified in livestock manure management every 3 years.
The first regional workshop is Feb. 26 at Stephenson County Farm Bureau Building, 210 W. Spring St., Freeport; 815-235-4125.
The program, primarily aimed at beef and dairy producers, is open to all.
Registration is at 9:30 a.m., with workshop presentations at 9:50 a.m.
The Department of Agriculture exam will be at 2 p.m.
A second workshop will be Feb. 27 at the DeKalb County Farm Bureau Building, 1350 W. Prairie Drive, Sycamore. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with presentations at 8:50 a.m.

Early registration is $30. Same-farm registrations are $30 for the first person, and $20 for each additional participant if registered at the same time. Walk-in registration is $45.
The cost for a manual and CD is $25 plus $7.50 shipping and handling. Manuals published in 2003 or newer also can be used. The certification exam is based on the manual. Those arriving after 9:20 a.m. for either workshop will not be certified for the program.
