Varga said he is fine with having a study done to gauge the need for the deputies, as long as it’s an assessment of the entire office, not just of the road division. 

The issue is expected to be discussed at the county board’s Dec. 18 meeting.

Wise saw collapse in support

Last week, Sterling Alderwoman Amy Viering attended her last meeting as a city official. She gave the usual praise one hears at such departures. But one compliment stuck out. At the end of her speech, she turned to City Administrator Scott Shumard and said, "You're awesome."
