Melvin C. Reed

HOUSTON – Melvin C. Reed, 96, of Houston, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012, in Houston. He had been employed by Gulf Oil before retiring.

He was born Dec. 29, 1915, in Rock Falls, the son of Charles and Elsie (Foltz) Reed. He was a veteran of the Army during World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Reed of Houston.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Harold “Clem” Reed; and a sister, Mildred Reed.

Graveside service, with military honors by the combined veterans group, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon, with the Rev. Stan Rodabaugh officiating. Jones Funeral Home in Dixon handled arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
