Kurt H. Granzow
STERLING – Kurt H. Granzow, 89, of Sterling, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.
Kurt was born Dec. 9, 1922, in Sterling, the son of Max and Ella (Kleinow) Granzow. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Medical Corps in the Pacific area for 3 years. He married Audrey M. Cassens on April 27, 1947, at St. John Lutheran Church in Sterling. She preceded him in death on Aug. 22, 2011.
Kurt was a member of Sterling American Legion Post 296. He was employed at Frantz Manufacturing Co. and Northwestern Steel & Wire Co., before retiring from Lawrence Brothers as chief engineer for 30 years. Kurt was an avid bowler in the Sterling-Rock Falls area and was a charter member of the Sterling-Rock Falls Bowling Association Hall of Fame, being inducted Jan. 17, 1976. He was a charter member of the local barbershop association. Kurt also was a great fan of the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bulls.
