MORRISON – Christine Renkes-Specht, 98, of Morrison, died Saturday, Nov. 10, at her home.

She worked at the former Buikema-Blass clothing store in Morrison, and later as a cook at Morrison High School.

She was born Oct. 24, 1914, in Fulton, the daughter of Dick and Jennie (Balk) Bielema. She married Gerald D. “Jerry” Renkes on June 30, 1934, in Morrison; he died Jan. 27, 1988. She married Gould Specht on June 3, 1989, in Morrison; he died Dec. 27, 2000.

She was a member of Morrison United Methodist Church and Morrison Lioness Club.

She is survived by a daughter, Judy Renkes of Morrison, a son, Arlyn (Linda) Renkes of Fredericksburg, Va., six grandchildren, eight stepgrandchildren, 10 step-great-grandchildren and three step-great-great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Nova Klingbeil, and a brother, Paul Bielema.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Friday, followed by the memorial service at 11 a.m., at Morrison United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dan Schenk, pastor, will officiate. Private interment was held Nov. 14 at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison.
