OREGON – Investigators Friday still were determining the cause of a two-car accident that killed both drivers on Thanksgiving morning.

According to a release from Ogle County Sheriff Michael Harn, Leslie A. Wallace, 28, of Oregon was heading east on Pines Road when her 2006 Honda Civic hit a 2002 Dodge Neon being driven by Christina Bopes Nave, 31, of Mount Morris. Nave was heading west.

According to the sheriff, both women were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Deputies responded to the wreck at 9:44 a.m. Thursday in the 1000 block of West Pines Road, about 1.5 miles west of Oregon.

The sheriff’s department reported Friday that the sheriff was not available and that no further details were expected to be released until Monday.
