Susan Marie Taylor

ACKWORTH, Ga. – Susan Marie Taylor, 52, of Ackworth, Ga., formerly of Sterling, passed away Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, after a short illness at VITAS Hospice Care Center in Austell, Ga.

Susan was born Sept. 7, 1960, the daughter of Thomas Jr. and Esther Mullen. She was a 1978 graduate of Newman Central Catholic High School, and a graduate of Sauk Valley Community College. She worked at Northwestern Steel and Wire Co. from 1979 to 1993. She also was a teacher for Head Start.

Susan married Carlos Taylor in 1991 and moved to Georgia in 1996.

Survivors include her husband, her son, Alex, and her daughter, Erin, all of Ackworth; her mother, Esther Mullen of Sterling; two brothers, Thomas P. (Darla) Mullen of Apple Valley, Calif., and Joseph (Chris) Mullen of Sterling; and one sister, Ann Mullen of Sterling.

She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas H. Mullen Jr.

Cremation rites were accorded Nov. 10, 2012, in Ackworth. A gathering of family and friends to celebrate her life will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday at Candlelight Inn in Sterling.

A memorial has been established to VITAS Hospice Care Center.
