ASHTON – Two men, one from Rochelle, were in the Ogle County Jail on Wednesday, charged in a string of break-ins in Lee and Ogle counties, the Ogle Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.

William W. Clark, 33, of Rochelle, is being held on $100,000 bond, while Adam J. Orenday, 30, of Rockford, is being held on $30,000 bond, the release said.

Ogle County was assisting the Lee County Sheriff’s Department with a report of a burglary in the Ashton area, called in around 7 a.m. Monday. A short time later, a deputy spotted Clark walking along state Route 38 north of Ashton, the release said.

The Sheriff’s Department said it was determined that Clark was involved in the Ashton break-in, two business burglaries in rural Chana, one in Creston and a residential burglary on Route 38 outside of Rochelle, the release said. It did not say how Clark was involved.

Orenday was arrested Tuesday, after two search warrants served at the Shangri-La mobile home park 2 miles west of Rochelle turned up a large amount of property stolen in the Ogle County break-ins, the release said.

Orenday is suspected in the Chana, Creston and Rochelle burglaries, the release said.

Clark, on parole on a 7-year sentence for aggravated robbery levied in 2008 in Ogle County, now also is wanted for violating the terms of that parole. According to the Illinois Department of Corrections website, he also has four other felony convictions, two for burglary, one for theft and one for bad checks, in Lee, Ogle and LaSalle counties.

In 2010, Orenday was charged with misdemeanor and felony domestic battery in Ogle County; he pleaded guilty to the two misdemeanor charges. He also has a 2008 misdemeanor battery conviction in Ogle.
