DOLTON (AP) — A pregnant suburban Chicago woman who voted on Election Day despite labor pains has given birth to a baby girl.

WLS-TV in Chicago reports that 21-year-old Galicia Malone ( http://bit.ly/QYwrgZ ) had baby girl Ghorgeous Brown late Tuesday at a hospital in Valaparaiso, Ind. Malone voted in her first presidential election on Nov. 6 even though she had labor pains. She filled out her ballot at a church in the southern Chicago suburb of Dolton. Election judge Frankie Shine says Malone asked for a chair.

Malone said she breathed through her contractions while she voted.

Malone said she wants the experience to be a stepping stone for her daughter. Cook County Clerk David Orr said Malone is a "terrific example" for the next generation.
