Dixon, Sterling fall on road

Rock Falls wins twice in ’Bago

Connor Sperling had the biggest win of the night for the Dixon Dukes on Tuesday, defeating Rochelle’s Tony Walsh 4-3 in triple overtime. Dixon, however, could not overcome forfeiting four weight classes in a 53-21 loss on the road. 

Jake Johnson (113 pounds) and
Brenan Chacon (145) each recorded pins for Dixon. Trent Brinkmeier (132) and Kylian Lally (138) both won by decision. 

Warriors drop three at UT: Sterlng lost 60-9 to Moline, 51-12 to Harlem, and 45-30 to United Township in East Moline.

Curtis Lilly, who placed fifth at 285 in Class 2A last winter, lost 3-2 to Moline’s Adarios Jones. Lilly won by major
decision in his match against United Township, and took a 3-1 decision against Harlem. 

Canaan Gillihan won a 9-3 decision at 182 pounds against Moline and received a forfeit against United Township. 

Rockets take two at ’Bago: Rock Falls defeated Burlington Central 36-33 and Marengo 44-24 in a pair of duals at

Tristan Dudley (106/113 pounds), Carlos Gutierrez (120), Tibs Cervantes (132/138), Roberto Arellano (152) and Shawn Skinner (195) all won twice for the Rockets, who didn’t wrestle the host
Indians; the two Big Northern West schools will square off later in the season.

West Carroll 65, Fulton 18: The Thunder recorded five pins and received five forfeits in a season-opening win over the Steamers in Savanna. 

Dalton Rice (106 pounds), Paawan Dandona (113), Chase Olsen (126), Zach Hartman (132) and Cody Yenney (152) had pins for West Carroll.

Aaron Field (138), Ethan Jones (145) and Steve Balk (285) had pins for Fulton.
