OBSTRUCTION/DOMESTIC BATTERY CASE: Clayton M. Bonnell, 29, of Dixon; charged with aggravated domestic battery, obstructing justice, and misdemeanor domestic battery. Police say Bonnell pushed Suzanne A. Boyer, 38, down the stairs on Jan. 21, but they told police an intruder broke into her home and pushed her down the stairs.
Boyer also is charged with obstructing justice.

CHILD PORN CASE: Ronald N. Osborn, 61, of rural Dixon; charged with six counts of aggravated child pornography. A search of Osborn’s computer on June 13 turned up multiple images of child pornography.

MARIJUANA CASE: James L. Palomarez, 19, of Dixon; charged with possession of between 500 and 2,000 grams of marijuana. Police say they found 583 grams of marijuana in the trunk of a car in which he was riding on Aug. 15.

HEROIN CASE: Holly E. Sheley, 34, of Oregon; charged with two counts of delivery of a controlled substance. Police say Sheley sold about $20 worth of heroin to an informant on Aug. 17.

COCAINE CASE: Christopher G. Cornell, 26, of Sterling, and Jonah L. Smith, 22, of Chicago; charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a park, and delivery of a controlled substance. Police say a raid of the men’s Rock Falls motel room on June 12 turned up a large amount of crack cocaine and about $1,000.

BATTERY TO A CHILD CASE: Marcus J. Dewey, 21, of Franklin Grove; charged with aggravated battery of a child. Police say Dewey severely injured a child younger than 13 on Oct. 16.

THEFT/PARAPHERNALIA: William A. Dodge, 29, of Sterling; charged with theft and possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. Police say a search of his living space on Oct. 15 turned up syringes and a small gun safe that was reported stolen 2 weeks earlier.

TRESPASS TO A RESIDENCE CASE: Dealon J. Gonzales, 34, of Rock Falls; charged with criminal trespass to a residence and misdemeanor charges of criminal damage to property and theft of less than $500. Police say Gonzales kicked his way into a Sterling home on Sept. 16 and stole a cellphone and debit card.

SEX ABUSE CASE: Brent A. Grove, 28, of Sterling; charged with three counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Police say Grove sexually abused two children younger than 13 in May and June.

ARSON/BATTERY CASE: Ronald Halgren, 71, of Rock Falls; charged with arson and aggravated battery of a peace officer. Police say Halgren set fire to his former Avenue A home on July 16, and while in the Whiteside County Jail, he threw a food tray at a correctional officer.

ARMED ROBBERY CASE: Joshua E. Messenger, 25, of Rock Falls; charged with armed robbery. Police say Messenger and another man robbed a Sterling gas station on May 22, 2011, with a knife.

SHAKEN BABY CASE: Karyn McCallister, 41, of Sterling; charged with aggravated battery of a child and reckless conduct. Police say McCallister, who ran an unlicensed day care center in her home, shook a 4-month-old girl in February 2009, causing severe head injuries.

LEAVING THE SCENE CASE: Michael R. Modler, 54, of Sterling; charged with leaving the scene of an accident, a felony, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and improper passing on the shoulder of the roadway. Police say Modler crashed his motorcycle on West Lincolnway at Anne Street in Galt on March 18 and left the scene, and his passenger, before police arrived. Charlotte Henson, 55, of Sterling, was thrown and seriously injured.

DAMAGE TO PROPERTY/TRESPASSING CASE: Erik J. Morales, 26, of Sterling; charged with criminal damage to property and criminal trespass to a residence. Police say a drunken Morales mistakenly broke into a Sterling home in the 100 block of East Eighth Street on Dec. 4 and was confronted by the homeowner.

STOLEN CAR CASE: Christopher C. Osborn, 22, no permanent address; charged with aggravated possession of a stolen vehicle, and misdemeanor marijuana possession, driving with a suspended license, and speeding. Police say Osborn stole a 1993 Pontiac Firebird in Sterling on Aug. 17, and the next day, an officer spotted Osborn and tried to pull him over and a short chase ensued.

RAPE/HOME INVASION CASE: David J. Reese, 26, of Rock Falls; charged with three counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, two counts of home invasion, and armed robbery. Police say Reese pushed his way into an elderly Rock Falls woman’s home on May 31 and demanded money before raping her.

DUI/ECSTASY CASE: Penny J. Schmidt, 24, of Rock Falls; charged with DUI, possession of Ecstasy, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and misdemeanors resisting a peace officer, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, driving with a suspended license and driving with no insurance.
