Forum plans to meet Thursday

Published: Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012 1:15 a.m. CST

The Rock River Open Forum will have an organizational and planning meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Rock Falls Public Library. The public is encouraged to participate.

In simple words, our goal is to see, judge and act. In more detail, it consists of the following: understand the issues that surround us, decide upon the ones that are most vital, identify possible actions, select the most appropriate, implement them, and evaluate our efforts.

Below are some of the issues that are of concern:

n The large discrepancy of incomes in our nation and in the world;

n The state of democracy in the United States;

n The nation’s debt;

n Methods of influencing our government;

n Economic development;

n Wall Street practices;

n Poverty;

n Global warming and sustainability;

n Working together harmoniously; and

n Nonviolent methods of resolving differences.

No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
