ROCK FALLS – A benefit to help a Rock Falls woman with lung cancer will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 2 at Sauk Valley Angus, 8681 Hickory Hills Road.

The MTD Roundup Benefit is for Maureen Danilson, 55, and her son, Tyler Danilson, 17, a junior at Newman Central Catholic High School.

Maureen, the daughter of Hugh and Betty Miller of Rock Falls, was diagnosed in December. She has received chemotherapy and radiation, and is continuing treatment at CGH Medical Center.

Joan Hermes is one of Maureen’s sisters. “She’s continuing the fight,” Hermes said.

Maureen has medical insurance, but it only covers so much, Hermes said.

The fundraiser will feature a rollover auction of a blue roan Shorthorn-plus heifer, in which the heifer will be sold and donated back again. There also will be a silent auction, a live auction, a dessert auction and a 50/50 raffle. Auction items can be dropped off at Hugh Miller Insurance Agency, 801 First Ave. in Rock Falls.

Some items already donated are an autographed and framed Chicago Cubs Kerry Wood jersey; an iPad with retina display; a 32-inch flat-screen TV; a wine-tasting at Galena Cellars Vineyard and Winery; a set of tires; a homeopathic diet program; Longaberger baskets; lia sophia jewelry, Vera Bradley bags, a signed Newman basketball, and area restaurant gift certificates.

Pies and other desserts will be made by Maureen’s family, including Maureen’s “Millionaire” candy.

The Miller Brothers, a country and rock band and Maureen’s nephews, will perform.

Admission is $10 for ages 5 and older, which includes a meal.

An account also has been set up at Sterling Federal Bank, 110 E. Fourth St. in Sterling. Make checks payable to MTD Roundup Benefit.
