Class starting at senior center

STERLING – Classes, performances and other programs are planned at the Whiteside County Senior Center, 1207 W. Ninth St.

A free 2-day recyclable bags class will start at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday. Sandra Fry will be the instructor. Those attending will learn to create a bag from grocery bags. They will need to bring a size K crochet hook, scissors and about 75 plastic bags. Registration is required.

Free Christmas carol singalongs will be at noon Wednesday and Dec. 19. Lunch will be served before the singalongs for $4.

A line dancing performance is planned for noon Friday. There is no charge. Dancers will move to a Christmas song.

A free stress reliever before the holidays program will be from 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 12. Haircuts, manicures and makeovers will be available. Items from Avon, Pampered Chef, lia sophia and other companies will be there, as will a certified healing touch practitioner.

Mona Barajas will teach a jewelry class at 9 a.m. Dec. 19.

Those participating will learn to make a necklace. The cost is $3. Registration is required.

A free movie and popcorn are scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Dec. 21. The movie is “It’s A Wonderful Life” starring James Stewart and Donna Reed.
