It had been 4 years since the last time we saw our daughter, Kim. They live in Pasco, Wash.

One Thanksgiving I was talking to our daughter, Kim, on the phone. I asked her what they were going to do that Thanksgiving? She said they were on their way to the store to pick up a pumpkin pie.

My two sisters, Margaret and Karen, and I were playing cards.

Karen’s daughter, Rachel, was to come over sometime that evening.

The doorbell rang, I thought it was Rachel so I just said come on in.

All of the sudden the door opened, and what a surprise, it was our daughter and her husband.

I was so surprised I couldn’t talk. I do like to talk. We had a great Thanksgiving.

When I was talking to Kim they were in our front yard.

This year, they will be here – no surprise.

Good or bad? Depends on who you ask

Sometimes readers ask for more good news in the paper. They say we in the media only cover the bad. But one person's positive is another's negative.

My kind of game

I would have gladly paid to take in the game I covered Saturday morning in Morrison.
