SCALES MOUND – A 51-year-old Sterling man died Saturday after crashing his motorcycle on North Road just south of Beebe Road in Jo Daviess County.

Mark S. Myers, a longtime machinist at Woods Equipment Co. in Oregon, was pronounced dead at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford.

According to a release from the Jo Daviess sheriff’s department, Myers was northbound on North Road about 12:12 p.m. when he hit his brakes, went into a skid and veered off the road. The motorcycle caught on the gravel shoulder, and he was thrown from the bike.
