Mayor should have resigned over scandal
Like many of us, I have kept up with the stories of Rita Crundwell. I was always somewhat incredulous as to how it may have happened, but it did.
This month’s Chicago magazine has a multi-page article on the whole fiasco, and it brought it all up again. We should be embarrassed. It almost hurts to read it. The whole story is so far-fetched that it could not be real, or could it? Sadly, yes.
What also strikes me is that no one has been fired, demoted or even scolded. I have known Mayor Burke for a number of years and believe him to be an honest sort, but given the scope of what transpired, he should have resigned along with the rest of the staff. It would have been the honorable course of action.
