AMBOY – Mary M. Watkins, 92, of Amboy, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at Amboy Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. 

Mary Nickerson Watkins was born April 1, 1920, the only daughter of Scott and Grace (Newton) Nickerson, in Stow, Ohio. She graduated from Kent State University with a bachelor’s degree in education. She married Roger H. Watkins in 1947, in Kent, Ohio. He preceded her in death in 2010.

Mary was a devoted homemaker, and volunteered at SwedishAmerican Hospital in Rockford with the Jenny Lind Society. She was a financial secretary at Anderson Packaging in Rockford for 14 years, retiring in 1986. She was a longtime member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Rockford, where she was a greeter for 30 years.
