I would like the opportunity to thank some important people. First, I would like to thank the Dixon and Dixon Rural Fire Departments for their excellent work they did on Nov. 25.
As a result of their quick and precise action, our neighboring homes were not damaged. Our home, unfortunately, was destroyed. My family and I regret the fact that one of our firefighters was injured.
We ask the readers of this paper to send out prayers of healing for him.
I would also like to thank LOTS [Lee-Ogle Transportation System] for its help. I was at an appointment, and when I received the call that my house was on fire, LOTS dropped everything and had someone personally come to get me.
Yes, I have been frustrated with some of the delays that they have, but to personally get me without asking for compensation really speaks on how much they care for us in the community.
Finally, I would like to thank everyone who is concerned for my family and me. We’re not in desperate need for much because we have some great supports and insurance, but we would like to ask that the readers keep in mind this holiday season those who are truly in need: families who can’t provide for themselves simply because they don’t have the means.
Once again, Robin and I thank everyone for their love and support, and keep our first responders in your thoughts and prayers.
