Virginia C. Borelli

DIXON – Virginia C. Borelli, 97, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and formerly of Dixon, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at the Views in Cedar Rapids.  

She was born Nov. 8, 1915, in Oglesby, the daughter of John and Helen (Gorczca) Kowalczyk. She had worked for Dixon Publishing for 10 years prior to her retirement.

Virginia was a former member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dixon. She married Nildo J. Borelli in Peru on July 29, 1939. He preceded her in death on Oct. 21, 1968. 

She was also preceded in death by one great-grandson, Nate Borelli; four brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include her son, Robert (Judy) Borelli of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; her daughter, Barbara (Merle) Pitman of Pencil Bluff, Ark.; eight grandchildren, Robert (Julie) Borelli, Theodore (Tricia) Borelli, Bridget (Casey) Scales, Todd (Joy) Pitman, Mark (Renee) Pitman, Wendy (Jeff) Petersen, Abbey Dempsey, and Stacy (Nick) Segneri; 25 great-grandchildren, Vanessa, Corbin, Owen, Amelia, Ian, Noah, Natalia, Justin, Eric, Ashley, Madeline, Anna, Eliot, Leah, Desiree, Nathanael, Korin, Preston, Hannah, Melia, Breanna, Lindsey, Isabelle, Joshua, and Emily; and two brothers, Donald (Lucille) Kowalczyk and Richard Kowalczyk, both of Peru.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dixon, followed by Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the church, with the Rev. John Gow, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon.  

Arrangements were completed by the Jones Funeral Home in Dixon.
