MARIJUANA CASE: Eric M. Konrady, 26, of Naperville; pleaded guilty in August with conspiring to manufacture 100 or more marijuana plants and possessing firearms in furtherance of a drug conspiracy. 

Police say Konrady and three others were growing marijuana in the basements of two Paw Paw houses. A bust on March 23, 2011, turned up 458 plants, items to grow marijuana, about 16 ounces of harvested marijuana, and 13 firearms, police said.

On the docket: Sentencing.

Lee County

Tuesday

DOMESTIC BATTERY CASE: Andrew C. Fassler, 41, of Dixon; charged with felony aggravated domestic battery. Police say Fassler threw his then-9-year-old son down the stairs on Oct. 1, 2009, breaking his arm. 

On the docket: Pretrial conference, during which the judge and attorneys will discuss matters concerning the case and set a trial schedule.

Wednesday

BATTERY CASE: Christopher C. Owens, 20, of Dixon; charged with aggravated arson. Police say Owens beat up a Dixon man on Sept. 20 outside an apartment building where a fire later was set. Owens was charged the next day with aggravated battery. He was charged Oct. 11 with arson and the battery charge was dropped.

On the docket: Pretrial conference.

On pensions, Bivins and GOP far apart

Sen. Tim Bivins, R-Dixon, joined with many of his fellow Senate Republicans this week to reject a pension bill sponsored by Democratic Senate President John Cullerton of Chicago. The measure passed 40-16. Bivins had a different reason for his no vote.
