Turkey giveaway contest winner announced

The Coloma Township Park District sponsored its 32nd annual Turkey Give-Away Contest for the month of November. 

The winner of a $25 gift certificate was Paula Buyno.

Her guess of 2,075 was the closest to the exact number of 2,112 kernels in the jar.

Registrations for the winter, spring recreation programs will begin Dec. 19. The programs will start the week of Jan. 7. Registration is at the park district administrative office only. All programs cancelled by the park district due to insufficient registration will be refunded in full. No refunds will be issued once a program has begun. There is a $2 service charge for processing cancellations. 

The park district welcomes new ideas for recreation programs or workshops, and seeks resumes or applications from prospective teachers.

Shelter reservations for the summer season will be taken Jan. 2. The rental fee covers the cost of moving picnic tables in and out of the shelter as needed and for cleaning before and after the gathering.

There will be a $10 service fee applied to cancellations. Refunds will be issued if a cancellation takes place a minimum of 2 weeks before the scheduled date. No rainout refunds will be issued. 

Shelter rental fees are: Larson shelter $55, Lions shelter $50, AAL shelter $50, Krug shelter $50 and Heide shelter $55, all in Centennial Park; Joshua Park shelter $55; Nims Park shelter $55; A.V. Sieglinger Memorial Park shelter $55; Kiwanis Park $50; Logan Park shelter $55; Rotary Park shelter $55; John Bowman Family Memorial Park $50; and Scanlan shelter in Wallingford Park $55 (not available April 1 to Aug. 31). 

A daily rate of $250 will be charged for Centennial Park ball diamonds and Larson shelter; and Wallingford Park ball diamonds and Scanlan shelter are $250.

Daily rates for ball diamond only rentals at Centennial Park or Wallingford Park are $100.

There is an additional charge of $15 per hour for lights at all ball diamonds.
