Learn about phones for hearing impaired

OREGON – Samantha Harazin of the Lee County Council on Aging in Dixon will explain the Illinois Telecommunications Access Corp. program at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 27 during the Rock River Center’s Triple Play Tuesday.

ITAC offers amplified phones for the hearing impaired that work with most hearing aids. ITAC also offers captioned and TTY phones.

Lunch of loaded baked potato soup and bread or sandwiches will be served at 11:30 a.m. Afterward, Harazin will test people for eligibility for a free phone and bingo will be played.

The event is at the center, 810 S. 10th St.

On pensions, Bivins and GOP far apart

Sen. Tim Bivins, R-Dixon, joined with many of his fellow Senate Republicans this week to reject a pension bill sponsored by Democratic Senate President John Cullerton of Chicago. The measure passed 40-16. Bivins had a different reason for his no vote.
