DIXON – Derald O. Spees, 78, of Dixon, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at Dixon Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center from complications of Parkinson’s disease. He worked for IBM for 28 years, retiring in 1987.

He was born March 7, 1934, in Rosiclare, the son of Ray and Mattie (Clemens) Spees. He was a veteran of the Army. He married Beverly Vaughn in 1953, in Harrisburg.

He is survived by his wife; sons, Gregory (Laura) of Jacksonville, Fla., and David of St. Marys, Ga.; a sister, Waneta of St. Charles; a brother, Emil (Edith) of Carbondale; two granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Iola; and brothers, Durward and Derl.

The memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Dixon, with the Rev. Janice Barnes officiating. Interment will be private.
