Roundup: Dixon downs Stillman in Sauk Valley Shootout game

Duchesses get in win column

The Dixon Duchesses picked up their first win of the season Tuesday, traveling to Stillman Valley and beating the Cardinals 37-21 in a Sauk Valley Shootout game.

Brooke Bailey led all scorers with 16 points for the Duchesses (1-1), who outscored Stillman 32-13 after the first quarter. Kari Wolfe added eight points.

Markie Woodbright led the Cardinals (0-2) with eight points.

Erie 57, Princeton 19: The Cardinals rolled past the tournament host Tigresses, outscoring Princeton 36-4 in the second half.

Ten different players scored for Erie (2-0), led by Peyton Rus’ nine points. Des Lawson and Paige Rus added eight points apiece, with Lawson adding team highs of eight rebounds and four assists.

Kewanee 47, Morrison 20: Lakin Goodman scored five points for the Fillies in a season-opening loss to the visiting Boilermakers.

Jenifer Ensley paced Kewanee with 14 points.

Eastland 54, RRSM 46: Haley Miller scored 13 points, and the Cougars won their season opener at home over River Ridge-Scales Mound.

Megan Janssen and Miranda Grisham each added eight points for Eastland (1-0), while Hannah Hake chipped in eight. The Cougars put the game away with an 18-12 scoring edge in the fourth quarter.

Dakota 56, AFC 36: Sarah Matson scored 13 points, and Alisyn Essex added 10 for the Raiders in a road loss against the Indians.

Jaycee Cleaver scored 11 points to lead Dakota (1-0).

Stockton 52, West Carroll 26: The Thunder were doubled up in both their season opener and NUIC West opener in Stockton. The Blackhawks also played their first game.

Boys bowling

Dixon 3,979, DeKalb 3,418: Josh Rex paced a balanced attack with a 736 series to lead the Dukes past the Barbs in DeKalb.

Rex bowled games of 265, 205 and 266 in posting the match-high series. He was followed by Connor Allen (707), Andrew Hamburg (671), Brandon Bonnette (662), Ryan Dixon (640) and Lucas Bonnette (563).

Michael Belluzzi topped DeKalb with a 610 series.
