DIXON – Richard V. Trafny, 93, of Dixon, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at his home after a long life. 

He was born in Cicero to Walenty and Janina (Kraszewska) Trafny. He was a veteran of the Navy during World War II. He married Maria Isabell Grzechnik on April 18, 1980, in Dixon.

Richard was known as the piano man. He worked for Howell Pipe Organ, and upon retirement, tuned pianos in the Dixon area. He loved music and challenging himself to learn new languages. His latest was French, but he was fluent in Polish, Spanish and German.

He is survived by his wife; sons, Allen (Susan) Trafny of Branford, Conn., and Arthur Trafny of Detroit; a daughter, Sue (Thomas) Sherlock Reimann of Marengo; grandchildren, Jonathan (Annie Vina) Sherlock of Westmont and Kristy (Adam) Sharpness of Cortland; and great-grandchildren, Colton and Josie Sharpness.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Lydia.

A private family ceremony will be at a later date. Jones Funeral Home in Dixon handled arrangements.
