Reopen pool as part of city’s healing process

Having lived across the street from Memorial Pool for 45 years, I believe there has never been a problem, either socially or mechanically, that could not be solved. It has been an interesting and pleasant experience.

It has been brought to my attention the park district no longer wishes to deal with the pool. One of the members has stated they flew over the town and “everyone has a pool in their yard.” Can your children learn to swim or dive in that pool, or can they learn to socialize in it? With others?

With the debacle at city hall, it would be a blessing if the council would consider taking over the pool and, with some of the money recouped, give our children and families something to do. I feel it could be a very healing move on their part, and the entire community could feel they got something out of the deal, especially for the kids.
