Habitat group is grateful for ample support

Published: Monday, Nov. 19, 2012 1:15 a.m. CST

On Nov. 11, Dixon Habitat for Humanity had our 20th dedication. Dixon Habitat has gradually made a major impact on affordable housing in Dixon by undertaking one project each year. Literally thousands of hours of Christian service from the men and women of this community have made this possible.

On behalf of our Dixon Habitat board members, I extend my thanks to all who served in our effort to provide decent homes to families in need. The local churches, businesses, union locals and trades persons deserve the credit for our success by the gift of their labor, material and money. May God bless you all.

Rock Falls is considering a ban on leaf burning. Should the city finally take that step?
Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
