Foot, bike race a unique event; kudos to director

The annual Meadows Monster event took place Oct. 27 in Lowell Park. This wonderfully challenging event consisted of running 2 miles in the woods, biking 10 miles through the Meadows and park road, then repeating running the 2 miles.

As challenging as it was as a competitor, it is equally challenging preparing this race. Much thanks has to go to Keith Aurand, the race director, and his wife, Jennifer. Preparation for this event is extremely time consuming and takes a lot of energy.

The course has to be checked, marked and staffed with volunteers. The details are varied and many. We had a lot of fun and even saw Sasquatch in the woods.

So, a big shout out to Keith, all the volunteers and the Dixon Park District for allowing us to have such a unique event. We are looking forward to many more Monster events.
