STERLING – Joan M. Matznick, 68, of Sterling, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at Rock Falls Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Joan was born May 1, 1944, in Morrison, the daughter of Arthur and Lauretta (Behrens) Matznick. She was employed by Self Help Enterprises, Inc. for 25 years, and was a member of Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sterling.

Survivors include one brother, Fred (Carol) Matznick of Sterling; two nieces, Brooke (Yancy) Workman and Tracey (Chris) Hemminger; three great-nieces, Kirsten Workman, Chloe Hemminger and Piper Hemminger; one great-nephew, Rowan Workman; and her special friend, Chris Smith of Sterling.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed by the funeral at 10:30 a.m., Friday at McDonald Funeral Home, 505 First Ave., Sterling, with the Rev. Patrick Pinion of Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.

A memorial has been established to Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church.
