NEENAH, Wis. – Danny L. “Dan” Dimond, 60, of Neenah, passed away Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at his home, with his family by his side after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

He was born Feb. 15, 1952, in Sterling, the son of Lawrence and Mary (Sibley) Dimond. Dan married his high school sweatheart, Judy M. Blackford, on Aug. 17, 1974. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Neenah.

Dan worked for 34 years as a mechanical engineer at Mercury Marine High Performance. Dan enjoyed all things cars – engines and watching races. He had the time-tested talent to fix and repair anything. He also enjoyed reading and researching any and all new projects. Dan loved being with his family at his cabin in Mountain, Wis., cheering for the Green Bay Packers; and had a fondness for his sheltie, Remi.

Dan is survived by his wife, Judy; daughters, Amanda (Joe) Grycowski of Appleton, Wis., and Stacey (Jesse) Dimond of Larsen, Wis.; two grandchildren, Mason and Allie Grycowski; siblings, David (Marsha) Dimond of Morrison, Marlene (Roger) Hackman and Craig (Sheri) Dimond, both of Rockford; brothers-in-law, Robert (Audrey) Last of Freeport and Elmer (Freda) Last of Rock Falls; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Mary Dimond; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Delbert and Ethel Blackford.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 809 S. Commercial St. Visitation also will be from 11 a.m. to noon, followed by the memorial service at noon Friday at the church, with the Rev. Catherine Mode, pastor, officiating.
