New board member to be appointed

ROCK FALLS – The East Coloma School Board will accept the resignation of a board member and seat a new board member during its meeting at 6:30 p.m. today.
Jamie Near, who was elected to the board in April 2011 and whose term was set to expire in 2015, is moving out of the district, Superintendent Kevin Andersen said.
Nelson Superintendent Gregory Lutyens, who lives in the East Coloma school district, will fill the seat until April, Andersen said.
The board also will hear an update on the proposal to consolidate the Nelson and East Coloma districts; discuss the April school board election; and discuss the tentative property tax levy.
The board meets at 6:30 p.m. at the school, 1602 Dixon Road, Rock Falls. Call 815-625-4400 for an agenda.
