Chicago firefighter dies after cardiac arrest
CHICAGO (AP) — A 61-year-old Chicago firefighter has died, just days after the funeral of another veteran firefighter who was killed while responding to an extra-alarm blaze.
Chicago Fire Department spokesman Will Knight says Walter Patmon Jr. went into cardiac arrest shortly after returning from a fire call late Sunday.
Knight says Patmon was cleaning his equipment when he began to feel short of breath. The 18-year fire department veteran later was pronounced dead at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park.
