Bradley 76, Eastern Illinois 53: The Braves were in control at the half, up 38-22 at Carver Arena in Peoria.

DePaul 91, California-Riverside 59: Thirteen Blue Demons scored in a season-opening rout for DePaul at the McGrath-Phillips Arena in Chicago.

Brandon Young and Cleveland Melvin led DePaul with 20 and 16 points, respectively.

Loyola-Chicago 62, Toledo 50: Ben Averkamp scored 15 points and added nine rebounds for the Ramblers at the Joseph J. Gentile Center in Chicago.

No. 3 Kentucky 72, Maryland 69: Junior guard Jarrod Polson scored 10 points – three more than he had in his career at Kentucky – and made the clinching free throws for the defending national champs with 7.7 seconds to play in New York.

Kyle Wiltjer, a sophomore, led the defending national champion Wildcats with 19 points. Seven-foot-1 sophomore Alex Len led Maryland with 23 points and 12 rebounds, both career highs. His rare three-point play – he made the first free throw then rebounded his own miss of the second – brought the Terrapins within 70-69 with 8.9 seconds left.

South Alabama 76, No. 24 Florida State 71: Antoine Allen hit four 3-pointers and scored 21 points to help spring a season-opening upset in Tallahassee, Fla.

Augustine Rubit added 12 points and Mychal Ammons had 11 points and 11 rebounds for South Alabama, which shot 9-for-15 from 3-point range.

Terry Whisnant and Montay Brandon had 11 points apiece for the Seminoles, the defending Atlantic Coast Conference champions.
