Dakota continues 2A title march

Indians best Edwards County in semi

Sarah Thompson had 13 kills to lead the Dakota Indians to a 25-20, 25-21 win over Edwards County in a Class 2A semifinal match Friday at the state volleyball tournament at Redbird Arena in Normal. 

Thompson also had 14 digs and two aces as Dakota (37-4) advanced to Saturday's state title match against Deer-Creek Mackinaw. The championship match will start at 1:55 p.m. The Indians won the Class 1A state title in 2011. 

Jaycee Cleaver added 28 assists for Dakota, which eliminated Oregon in the Byron Sectional championship match.
