ROCK FALLS – The Rock Falls Police Department needs the public’s help to identify the people responsible for at least 25 vehicle break-ins that have taken place in the past week.

According to a news release from the department, the vehicles throughout the city have been burglarized since Nov. 3.

Most the vehicles had been left unlocked. Items stolen include cash, GPS units, book bags, and clothing, according to the release. The break-ins are taking place in the early evening and late evening hours.

Thefts have occurred throughout the city, with the most recent reports in the area of Merrill Elementary School and downtown Rock Falls.

The department asks citizens to lock their vehicles and remove items from public view. People who sees suspicious activity in their area should call the police department at 815-622-1140.

Anyone with information on the case should call the department, email tips@rockfalls61071.com or call Whiteside County Crime Stoppers at 877-625-7867.
