Tentative date for next Crundwell auction
Household items from Dixon, Fla. homes to be sold
DIXON – An online auction of items belonging to ousted Dixon comptroller Rita Crundwell is tentatively slated for Dec. 6 to 8, the U.S. Marshals Service said Thursday.
Marshals also have posted a solicitation on GSA e-Buy, a federal procurement site, looking for a company to auction the items. Proposals are due by 4 p.m. Tuesday.
The online auction dates will be finzlized once a contractor is hired, said Jason Wojdylo, chief inspector of the marshals’ asset forfeiture division.
The items to be sold include furniture and clothing at Crundwell homes in Dixon and Englewood, Fla.
They have been in marshals care since Crundwell was indicted on a federal wire fraud charge in connection with what prosecutors say is the misappropriation of more than $53 million in city money since 1990.
She also charged with 60 counts of theft in state court in Lee County.
Online and live auctions of Crundwell’s herd of prized quarter horses, vehicles, trailers, tack, and a luxury motor home netted nearly $7.4 million.
A federal judge also gave marshals permission to sell several of Crundwell’s properties, which includes her Red Brick Road ranch and her vacation home in Englewood. Dates for those sales have not been set.
