Freeport rolls out red carpet for Festival of Trees
FREEPORT – FHN’s Festival of Trees begins today with holiday movies at the Classic Cinemas Lindo Theatre, 115 S. Chicago Ave.
Movies begin at 10 a.m. The cost is $3.50. All children attending receive a holiday gift.
The movies are “Wreck-It Ralph” on Nov. 17, “The Grinch” (free on Nov. 24, “Rise of the Guardians” on Dec. 1, “Dino Time” on Dec. 8 and “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” on Dec. 15.
The 1947 “Miracle on 34th Street” will show at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Dec. 19. The cost is a donation or a food drive contribution.
Other events include:
■ Community Holiday Tree Lighting, 5 p.m., Sunday in front of FHN Memorial Hospital, 1045 W. Stephenson St.
■ FHN CasiNO TO CANCER Holiday Gala with casino-style games, food, dancing and shopping, 6 p.m., Freeport Masonic Temple, 305 W. Stephenson St. Tickets are $50; buy online at www.fhn.org or call 877-600-0346, ext. 901.
■ Community Festival of Trees starts Dec. 1 at the Freeport Public Library, 100 E. Douglas St. Trees will be displayed through Dec. 28.
■ Highland Community College Children’s Choir will perform at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 3 at the library. There is no charge.
■ School choirs will perform at Singin’ at the King, 5:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at King Community Campus, 103-109 N. Chicago Ave. The cost is a canned good for the FACC food pantry.
■ Luminary Night Dec. 23 on Stephenson Street and Lincoln Boulevard.
