Bands perform

STERLING – Woodlawn Arts Academy Rhythm-Quest Rocks bands will give a free concert from 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 27 at the J. Mark Beaty Performance Center at the academy, 3807 Woodlawn Road.

The students, who are 12 and older, are directed by Ramiro Martinez.

The winter session of the bands begins Jan. 15.

It will end in a concert April 16.

Registration for this session can be done online at or by calling 815-626-4278.

In person registration can be done from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays and 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays.

Other events at the academy include:

■ Holiday Blown-Glass Keepsakes Workshop – 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today or Dec. 8, for ages 12 and older. The cost is $50 per workshop. Supplies included are enough to make five ornaments.

■ Holiday Stained-Glass Ornaments Workshop – 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 15 for ages 14 and older. The cost is $60. Participants select one of four designs to create.

■ Making At Home Spa Treatments and Gifts – 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 13 and Dec. 20, for ages 18 and older. The cost is $30 per workshop.

■ Handmade Holiday – 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 11 and Dec. 18 for ages 18 and older. The cost is $30 per workshop.

Registration can be done as mentioned above.

An opportunity also is available for children younger than 12 to create crafts and holiday gifts.

Registration is not needed. Children may stop by between noon and 2 p.m. Dec. 15.
