Sterling vet to be on History Channel

STERLING – “Vietnam in HD,” featuring an interview with Sterling veteran Ray Torres, will air Sunday through Tuesday on the History Channel.

Torres appears in part two, “The Tet Offensive; An Endless War.”

All three parts will air from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday.

Part one will air from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and again from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday.

Part two will air from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, and again from 11 p.m. Monday to 1 a.m. Tuesday.

Part three will air from 9 to 11 p.m. Monday, and again from 1 a.m. to 3 a.m. Tuesday.

Drill

It was easy to get distracted by the performance of it all. The active shooter drill held by Sterling and County Police last week at the high school. The scenario; two armed shooters in the school killing students and teachers and the police and medical technician's response. It's an unfortunate drill, but a necessary one. In the hallways a Halloween mentality took over, especially when the ketchup-blood concoction was applied on the students. Small talk and "what I'm going to do" plans were passed around freely between laughs and odors of the sickly sweet blood stand-in.
