Robert V. Bacon

BYRON – Robert V. Bacon, 90, lifelong resident of Oregon and Byron, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at Pinecrest Manor in Mount Morris, after a long illness. 

He was born in Oregon, and graduated from Oregon High School. After working for E.D. Etnyre and KOL – Master, Bob enlisted in the Navy Seabees in October 1943. He served in the South Pacific until January 1946. Upon his return to Oregon, he was employed by Quaker Oats in Oregon and Rockford for the next 40 years. His humor was well recognized by the Quaker Oats Old-Timers Club and his many friends. He was a lifetime member of Oregon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8739.

Bob is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Medins Bacon; daughters, Suzette (Tim) Mahurin and Annette Bacon; sister, Jane (Dean) Barr; and stepson, Peter (Becky) Medins.
