Program on the Civil War Monday

DIXON – The Lee County Genealogical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the second-floor conference room at KSB Hospital, 403 E. First St. The program is free.

The speaker will be Jim Higby of Dixon, discussing “Civil War {Pennies} – The Dixon Connection.” Topics will include the use of tokens in place of regular money during the Civil War, and a genealogical account of the study of coins.

Refreshments will be served. Society staff will be in the hospital lobby to direct visitors. Call the society’s Family Tree Center at 815-288-6702 or stop at the center, 111 S. Hennepin Ave., for more information.
