Celebrate America Recycles Day

OREGON – Several communities in Ogle County will have activities Thursday to mark America Recycles Day.

County solid waste management department staff will answer questions and share information from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at Oregon SuperValu Food Store, 204 N. Fourth St.

Students at Oregon Elementary School will decorate paper grocery bags in their art classes to help promote the day. The bags will be used by SuperValu staff to help promote recycling education.

The Byron County Market store also is providing paper bags to students in the Byron School District, park district Tiger Den Afterschool program and Byron Grade School art classes.

The Rochelle Community Conservation and Recycling Committee will collect used but sturdy medical equipment from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday in the old 1st National Bank parking lot on Lincoln Highway in Rochelle.

A limited number of wheelchairs with foot rests, walkers, canes, crutches, and similar equipment will be accepted. Anyone needing collected items can request them at 4 p.m.
