Tiny E. Lawson

DIXON – Tiny E. Lawson, 80, of Chenoa, formerly of Dixon, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at her home after an extended illness.

She worked as a mental health technician for Dixon Developmental Center for 20 years before her retirement in 1988.

Tiny was born Oct. 3, 1932, in Mount Airy, N.C., the daughter of William Henry and Sophia (Smith) Hawks. She was a member of Dixon Church of the Brethren since 1970 and of First Presbyterian Church in Chenoa.

Survivors include her mother, Sophia Hawks of Mount Airy; four daughters, Tanya Webb of Dixon, Robin Durain of Las Vegas, Vickie Weston of Cocoa Beach, Fla., and Lori (Paul) Francis of Pontiac; three sisters, Betty Shelton, Loretta Mabe, and Brenda Joyce, all of Mount Airy; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and family friend, Mark Johnson, of Chenoa.

Tiny was preceded in death by her father; one brother, Curtis Hawks; one brother-in-law, the Rev. Clarence Mabe; and one son-in-law, Charles W. Weston.

The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in Chenoa, with the Rev. Dan Patterson, pastor, officiating. Private burial of cremains will be at Chenoa Cemetery in Chenoa.

Memorials have been established to the American Cancer Society and First Presbyterian Church in Chenoa.
